LPGA Tour
Ladies European Tour (LET)

The two leading women´s professional season-long Tours are the LPGA Tour, based in North America, and the Ladies European Tour (LET).

Other leading professional women's tours include: LPGA of Japan Tour, LPGA of Korea Tour, Ladies Asian Golf Tour, WPGA Tour of Australasia, and the South African-based South Africa.

LPGA TOUR
The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) was founded in 1950 following the demise of the short-lived Women's Professional Golf Association in 1949. Thirteen leading women golfers  including Patty Berg, Louise Suggs, and Babe Zaharias formed the new Association. The first LPGA tournament was the 1950 Tampa Women's Open. Despite the presence of top professionals, it was an amateur, Polly Riley, who won the inaugural LPGA Tour event. However, Zaharias was the star of that first season, winning eight of the 15 tournaments and prizemoney if $14,800 out of a total prize fund of around $50,000.

In 2025 there were 33 events on the Tour with 22 in the United States and a further 11 at various places around the world. Prizemoney was $131 million and the season’s oop earner was Thailand’s Jeeno Thitikul with winnings of $7,578,330.

PGA EUROPEAN TOUR
The Ladies European Tour (LET) was created following the formation of the Women's Professional Golfers' Association (WPGA) in 1978. The first Tour season started on 26 April 1979 when the 36-hole Carlsberg European Ladies' Championship took place at Tyrrells Wood, Surrey and was won by Mollie Anderson with a total of 145 , three strokes better than runner-up Jane Chapman.

Eighteen events made up the first season with Cathy Panton topping the Order of Merit while the season’s leading money-winner was Alison Sheard with £4,965. Sheard and Christine Langford both won three events.

In 2025 there were 28 official Tour events with total prizemoney of  more than €37 million. The leading money winner was Thailand’s Jeeno Thitikul with €1,383,554
