Colin Montgomerie was undefeated in a record eight singles matches, winning six (as above) and halving in 1991 (with Mark Calcavecchia), and 1997 (with Scott Hoch) when Montgomerie conceded a 15-foot putt on the last hole for the half which guaranteed the Cup win for Europe.

Poulter was undefeated in seven singles with six wins and one half. Tom Kite (USA) was also undefeated in seven singes, winning five and halving two.

Of the players who took part in the 2025 Ryder Cup, Rory McIlroy (Europe) and Justin Thomas (USA) were the most successful players with four career singles wins.

Arnold Palmer and Billy Casper (above) both made ther debut in 1961 and playing together in the opening day's morning foursomes, beat Dai Rees and Ken Bousfied 2 & 1.
