† Although not a member of the PGA European Tour at the time, Woods played in 10 tournaments in 2006. He enjoyed nine top-10 finishes, winning five, and was runner-up or third, on two further occasions.

Many more golfers have won four tournaments in a European season since 1972, including Seve Ballesteros who did so four times (1978, 1980, 1983, and 1985) in addition to those shown above.

Prior to the formation of the Tour in 1972, the most wins in a. European season was 7 by the Australian Norman von Nida (1947) and the Belgian Flory van Donck (1954).
